If you have noticed an influx of McMurry University alumni social media content that is not an accident.
Natalie Frazier joined McMurry as assistant director for alumni engagement in August. She has been working diligently to increase relevant content on and engage McMurry alumni through our various social media channels.
“Natalie is not a McMurry graduate, but you wouldn’t know it. She is a trained journalist and has used those skills to thoroughly study McMurry’s history and immerse herself in the current culture,” said Director for Alumni Engagement Katelyn Scott ’97. “She is dedicated to getting to know our amazing alumni and sharing McMurry’s collective story through social media to help our alumni build strong connections with their alma mater.”
As a recent graduate herself, one of Frazier’s goals as assistant director for alumni engagement is to excite McMurry alumni no matter what year they graduated or what they experienced while they were here.
“I want every member of our alumni community to look at our social media channels and find something that makes them feel seen, remembered, and heard,” Frazier said. “Your time and experiences here were meaningful, and McMurry would not be the same without your part in her history.”
Along with managing three social media channels and writing articles for The Messenger magazine and e-newsletters, Frazier is also working with current students to build connections with alumni and with the institution by reinvigorating the McMurry Student Alumni Association.
“Connecting current students and soon-to-be graduates with alumni is something high up on my list,” Frazier said. “Finding ways to show students and recent graduates ways they can be involved and engaged is very important to me, because I, too, am looking for more ways to connect with my own alma mater.”
More than anything Frazier hopes to share people-centered content to engage with our social media followers while embracing McMurry brand standards for a cohesive look and feel.
Frazier is a 2020 graduate of South Dakota State University (SDSU) where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in journalism and minored in design studies. A proud alumna of the College of Communication and Journalism, Frazier spent most of her college career writing for SDSU’s student-run newspaper. Back in 2019 she worked alongside ESPN’s college game day to cover the Dakota Marker Game in Brookings, SD.
She has worked at numerous newspapers in the Midwest spanning from South Dakota to northern Minnesota. Her writing has been published as far south as Pensacola, FL. Most recently Frazier worked on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic as an emergency room patient access representative in Wadena, MN.
Frazier moved to the Abilene community in June with her husband who is stationed at Dyess AFB as a weapons system officer. In her free time, she is a professional freelance photographer.
