Wind Ensemble
The Department of Music and the McMurry University Wind Ensemble invites all faculty, staff, students, and community members to the first concert of the 2022-2023 academic year on Tuesday, 10/11 at 7:30 pm in Ryan Recital Hall. Entitled “Flex!”, the performance features four contemporary wind band compositions written for flexible, rather than the traditional “fixed” instrumentation found in most wind band works. This approach to orchestration has become more common since the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the number of students participating in band programs across the country. The McMurry Wind Ensemble will use this performance to promote and acknowledge the work in this genre by composers Kim Archer, Adam Gorb, John Mackey, and Randall Standridge.
