Carly Kahl

Carly attended McMurry University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a Minor in Spanish, and a certificate in Servant Leadership from The Servant Leadership Center of the Southwest.  She moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she earned a Master of Arts in History, specializing in 20th Century American Military History.  She is a doctoral student in the History Department at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and is preparing to take her comprehensive exams in Fall 2023.  As a graduate student at Texas Tech, Carly was awarded the Doris A. Blaisdell Graduate Scholarship Endowment in History in 2023, the W. B. and Mozelle Rushing History Scholarship in 2020, and the Willie McCool Texas Aviation Heritage Foundation Incorporated Scholarship in 2019 for her academic achievement.  She is a graduate assistant at the Texas Tech University Press, and is looking forward to conducting research for her dissertation topic—tactical aviation during World War II.Carly is the Statewide Department Chair for General Education and Academics at Texas State Technical College, where she has worked for the past fifteen years.  TSTC has ten campuses across the State of Texas, and serves thousands of students each year, with the focus of training students for the Texas workforce.  She received the Chancellor’s Excellence Award and the NISOD Excellence Award in 2020, and the W.R. Potter Mark of Teaching Excellence Faculty Award in 2019.In 2022, Carly was named McMurry University’s Outstanding Alumni Award in Education.
