McMurry University to Celebrate Fall Commencement 2025

McMurry University will host its Fall Commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Radford Auditorium in Abilene, Texas. Graduates, families, and friends will gather to recognize the academic achievements of students completing associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees.

Commencement Speaker: Dr. Marcia Straughn

The ceremony will feature Dr. Marcia Straughn, Dean and Professor in the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, as the commencement speaker. With more than twenty-five years of experience in nursing practice, higher education, and program leadership, Dr. Straughn will address graduates on service, integrity, and professional calling.
Dr. David Carver

Honorary Doctor of Science: Dr. David Carver ’74

McMurry will also confer an Honorary Doctor of Science degree on Dr. David Carver ’74, founder of Carver Scientific and a distinguished innovator in energy technologies, pharmaceutical development, and analytical instrumentation. Dr. Carver, a McMurry chemistry alumnus, holds more than 200 issued patents and has been recognized previously with McMurry’s Outstanding Alumni Award in Math and Sciences.

Where do I park?

Please refer to the linked map for event parking lot locations and plan accordingly to ensure a hassle-free experience during the commencement ceremony.

I have limited mobility. How do I get to commencement?

Accessible parking for individuals with mobility constraints will be available in the McMurry Court parking lot, situated between the Radford and Maedgen buildings.

There is a ramp at the Furr Welcome Center that provides access to the Radford Auditorium, where commencement will take place.
