DeOri Newman

DeOri Jemar Newman Sr. was born September 13, 1984, and was raised in Abilene, Texas, where he attended AISD schools and graduated from Abilene High School. Shortly after graduation, DeOri met the love of his life, Leslie. They married in 2007 and have four beautiful children: two boys and two girls. DeOri accepted his call to the ministry and preached his first sermon in March 2008 at New Light Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Eddy Jordan. Shortly after, he was called to serve as Pastor at Ash Street Baptist Church. He presided as the Pastor for 12 years. During his time at Ash Street, DeOri started a small business, “Newman’s Power Clean”, and he obtained a certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic. He also received an Associate’s Degree from Tyler Junior College and a Bachelor’s in Religious Studies from McMurry University (Go War Hawks). During his time at McMurry, he served as the Black Student Union President in his junior year. He also served as the President of the Greater Abilene Ministers Alliance for two terms. Shortly after graduation, DeOri became the Pastor of his home church, New Light Baptist Church. DeOri is very excited to see what the Lord has in store for his future. He is currently between studies at ACU for a Master’s degree.
