Neena Mclain

Neena McLain is a professional actor, director, storyteller, and theatre educator. She began her career as the Artistic Director for Playmakers of Baton Rouge. After 10 years with Playmakers, she made the move into education, working as a drama teacher for 1st-12th grade students in the talented theatre program with the Zachary Community School District in Zachary, Louisiana. After 5 years with Zachary, Neena moved to The Runnels School in Baton Rouge where she served as the Chair of Theatre. As chair, Neena oversaw curriculum and instruction for 1st – 12th grade theatre courses, taught 7th – 12th grade theatre and managed a season of 4-6 productions. Neena McLain has also worked as a storyteller for Louisiana Endowment for the Arts, Prime Time for Reading Program, taught as an adjunct instructor for Louisiana State University and was a founder and managing partner for Third Wheel Theatre, a theatre dedicated to providing theatre opportunities to young actors. She has also served on the advisory boards for Texas Educational Theatre Association, Theatre Baton Rouge and Playmakers of Baton Rouge. She currently serves on the boards of Abilene Performing Arts Company and Young Audiences of Abilene. She was awarded the Outstanding Arts Alumni award in 2014 and the Outstanding Faculty Award in 2021 from McMurry University. She is currently an Assistant Professor and the Head of Theatre at McMurry University. Neena holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from McMurry University and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from Louisiana State University.

On a personal note, Neena is the very proud mom of Brandon and Kate. She also has three pampered pups and a spoiled cat. When she has time, Neena loves to draw and paint. She also loves the beach and can spend hours walking and collecting shells.
