Faculty-guided Honors Thesis
The McMurry University Honors Program is an enriched academic experience for motivated students who want to challenge themselves, explore ideas across disciplines, and work closely with faculty mentors.
Challenge with purpose
Honors courses emphasize critical thinking, creativity and discussion in smaller classroom environments. Students develop strong research, analytical and communication skills while exploring ideas across disciplines.

Students can pursue Honors throughout their undergraduate experience or complete advanced work within their major discipline.
The Honors Thesis
Both Honors pathways culminate in the Honors Thesis—an independent research or creative project completed with guidance from faculty mentors.
The experience strengthens research, writing and critical-thinking skills while preparing students for graduate study, professional programs and leadership opportunities.

Honors scholarships
$3,000–$5,000
per year for qualifying Honors students
Rewarding achievement
Students accepted into the Honors Program may qualify for competitive Honors scholarships recognizing academic achievement and supporting continued success at McMurry.
Honors scholarships may be combined with other McMurry scholarships and financial aid packages.
Admission requirements
Students interested in the Honors Program first apply for admission to McMurry University. Typical qualifications for Honors consideration include:
Top 5% of graduating high school class
Approximately 3.85 weighted GPA
27 ACT or 1280 SAT, or equivalent academic achievement
