By pursuing your studies in English and writing at McMurry, you join a group of passionate professors and fellow students. Whatever your literary area of interest, you’ll find a home here. You’ll develop and refine your skills as a scholar and writer through small courses, where you’ll learn with distinguished faculty, not graduate assistants.

What You Can Earn

Bachelor of Arts in English Studies with Writing Certificate

You’ll complete at least 120 credit hours, not including developmental courses. At least 39 hours will be at an advanced level. This degree requires a minor.

Certificate of writing
You’ll complete at least 15 credit hours. Any degree-seeking undergraduate student at McMurry can pursue the certificate.

Careers

An in-depth understanding of English language, literature and composition opens the door to careers in writing, publishing, journalism and communications. You’ll gain excellent verbal and written communication skills that will also be relevant to a wide range of fields, including finance, law, public policy and more.
