07/20/2023 Alumni McMurry News

(Abilene, Texas – July 20, 2023) – McMurry University announces its two highest consecutive years of fundraising, including the institution’s highest-ever contributions to the McMurry Fund.

“The impact our donors have on our students is immeasurable,” University President Dr. Sandra S. Harper said. “Because of them, we are able to give students an affordable, high-quality education and provide them with all the tools they need for success in life.”

Thanks to McMurry’s alumni and friends, over $2 million was donated to the Annual Fund, which touches every aspect of campus from student life and scholarships to maintenance and faculty support. Over $7.8 million went to the endowment, and $12.9 million went to capital projects. McMurry is in the final stages of developing a new strategic plan that will carry McMurry into its second century.

“We are excited to continue our growing momentum as we close out our Centennial year,” Vice President of Institutional Advancement Mike Hutchison said. “We are grateful that our community is so invested in our students and our campus that they continue to give so generously.”

McMurry plans to head into its second century with enthusiasm. Tickets are available now for the McMurry University Centennial Homecoming and Gala on October 27 and 28, 2023. The Gala will be a celebration where friends and alumni will gather in the Abilene Convention Center to have great food, dance, and share memories. In addition, construction will soon be completed on McMurry’s new apartment complex and the reimagined Garrison United Methodist Campus Center.
