(Abilene, Texas – February 2, 2024) – McMurry University reports that total student enrollment has increased by almost 80%, from 1,244 in spring 2023 to 2,237 in spring 2024.

“After our record enrollment in the fall, this current growth shows the value of an education at McMurry,” Vice President of Enrollment Management Dr. Grant Greenwood said. “The McMurry Dual Credit Academy continues to be a success. Offering dual credit classes introduces high school students to McMurry and allows them to experience what a private, affordable college education looks like.”

Over 1,200 students are enrolled in McMurry’s Dual Credit Academy (DCA). McMurry offers more than 20 courses through the DCA, and enrolled students can pursue several pathways to fast-track their degree at a lower cost. Students who complete their DCA course are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship to attend McMurry after they graduate high school. McMurry has over 100 dual credit partner schools and districts in the state of Texas.

“McMurry is beginning its second century,” McMurry University President Dr. Sandra S. Harper said. “What our students do now will help shape the next 100 years of McMurry’s successes, challenges, traditions, and triumphs. Our new strategic plan is also set to propel us forward as we continue to provide a high-quality education and a tight-knit community here in Abilene.”

McMurry is ready for a busy semester with the opening of the reimagined Garrison Campus Center, the annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon featuring retired Air Force General Lori Robinson, and the second annual Symposium for Student Research, Scholarship, and Creative Works.
