McMurry University has announced the addition of men’s and women’s gymnastics as its newest intercollegiate athletics program, further advancing the institution’s strategic commitment to expanding athletics opportunities and enhancing the student-athlete experience.
McMurry anticipates its first competitive season in Fall 2027, with recruiting efforts beginning in advance of that launch.
“This new program reflects McMurry’s strategic commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for student involvement and competition,” said Dr. Grant Greenwood, Chief Operating Officer. “We are intentionally building this program from the ground up, with a focus on long-term success and strong leadership.”
As part of the program’s development, McMurry is currently conducting a national search for a Head Coach of Gymnastics, with a target hire date of Summer 2026. The head coach will be responsible for establishing the program’s foundation, leading recruiting efforts, and preparing the team for its inaugural season.
More information about the position, including application details, can be found at: https://mcmurry.bamboohr.com/careers/48.
The university expects to begin forming its first recruiting cohort before the 2027 season. Prospective student-athletes will have the opportunity to be part of the program’s inaugural class — helping build the foundation of McMurry gymnastics while preparing to compete at the collegiate level.
The addition of gymnastics aligns with McMurry’s broader vision to invest in programs that support student engagement, competitive excellence, and institutional growth. Additional details regarding facilities, recruiting, and program development will be shared as they become available.
