McMurry University has named Meagan Harris executive director of advancement. In this role, Meagan is an active member of the Institutional Advancement team, working collaboratively and strategically with the university president, fundraising professionals, faculty, deans, staff, campus leaders, and external constituents.
Meagan brings more than a decade of experience in philanthropy, nonprofit capacity building, and community engagement. She began her career in the banking industry before transitioning to philanthropy in 2014, serving as grant director at the Permian Basin Area Foundation and later as rural grants manager at the Community Foundation of Abilene. Through her work with community foundations, Meagan has been passionate about building capacity to create lasting change. She developed the Nonprofit Leadership Academy (NLA) and Strategic Philanthropy Uniting Rural West Central Texas (SPUR), initiatives designed to strengthen nonprofit leadership and advance philanthropy across the region.

A proud McMurry University alumna, Meagan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from McMurry and a Master of Business Administration from Angelo State University. She is actively involved in her community through volunteer service and leadership, formerly serving on the McMurry University Board of Visitors. She has also served on the selection committee for Midland Habitat for Humanity, Big Country VOAD, Sweet Water Emmaus, #EPIC, and North Star Leadership Council for CEN.
She values the relationships built through her work and community involvement and is especially passionate about helping people and organizations turn ideas into meaningful action. Outside of work, she enjoys playing golf, traveling, and spending time with her daughter and family.
