The McMurry nursing program prepares graduates to serve as Registered Nurses in all specialties and as nursing generalists. Our School of Nursing is located just next to Hendrick Medical Center, the largest healthcare facility in the region serving 24 counties, which allows our students dedicated space and close access to the Hendrick facilities for their clinical rotations. With a 96% first-time NCLEX national licensure exam pass rate and full accreditation and approval through the Texas Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, our goal is to prepare you for a successful career in nursing.

Nursing students begin their general education courses and then apply to the School of Nursing at the completion of sophomore year. Transfer students can apply to the School of Nursing after being admitted to McMurry.
In order to be admitted into the School of Nursing, students must have the following:
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
- Completion of all prerequisite and general education courses with a letter grade of C or higher with no more than two attempts. Specific course requirements are below:
- Anatomy & Physiology I & II – minimum letter grade of B
- Pathophysiology – minimum grade of 83%
- Chemistry – minimum letter grade of C
- Microbiology – minimum letter grade of B
McMurry University and Hendrick Health have joined together to combat the national nursing shortage. By committing to four years of service with Hendrick after graduation, McMurry nursing students working on their Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) can access up to $28,000 in financial support over two years, which can be combined with other aid to graduate without little or no debt. Every student at McMurry is assigned a dedicated Student Success Coach who will support them throughout their entire time at the university. Nursing students have a specific Success Coach who works alongside the School of Nursing to ensure students are set up for a successful transition into their Nursing classes.
Students gain hands-on clinical experience at Hendrick Health and at various partner facilities across the region.
