On your journey to becoming a Registered Nurse, all students will have the opportunity to experience an introduction to nursing in some of the area’s premier healthcare agencies. Our partnerships with various communities of interest and numerous nursing specialties will expose you to a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
What You Can Earn
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
You’ll complete at least 120 credit hours, not including developmental courses. At least 39 hours will be at an advanced level.
All applicants to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program must be enrolled at McMurry University before applying to the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing.
Students who are not currently enrolled at McMurry University must first apply for admission to the University before beginning the BSN application process. Transfer students may apply to the School of Nursing after being admitted to McMurry.

Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the BSN program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
- All nursing prerequisite courses must be completed with a letter grade of C or higher. Courses completed with a grade below C will not be accepted toward the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Students may attempt each nursing prerequisite course no more than two times.
- The following required courses must be completed before admission to PHSSN:
- Anatomy and Physiology I & II
- Pathophysiology
- Chemistry
- Microbiology
- All general education requirements must be completed before enrollment in the nursing program.
Applicants are reviewed through a holistic admissions process.
No entrance exam is required.
