Hello, McMurry family! I am beyond excited to step into my new role as the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement and have the opportunity to connect with so many of you who share a love for this incredible university. McMurry has been such a significant part of my life, shaping me both personally and professionally, and I am thrilled to continue my journey here in a new capacity.
My path to McMurry was not the traditional one. Unlike many students, I never had the chance to visit campus before enrolling. Instead, my decision was based on the kindness and support I received from my Admission Counselor, Doug Jeter. Moving to a new country and leaving my family behind was daunting, but Doug made me feel welcomed and valued. From the moment I arrived, I realized that McMurry wasn’t just a university—it was a second family.
During my time as a student, I explored different academic paths, initially planning for a career in the medical field before discovering my passion for sports administration. This journey of self-discovery led me to graduate in December 2023, and along the way, I embraced countless opportunities that helped shape me into the person I am today.
Beyond the classroom, I immersed myself in campus life, joining organizations that allowed me to grow both personally and as a leader. I was an active member of Theta Chi Lambda, serving in multiple leadership roles, including President, Pledge Educator, and Treasurer. My involvement extended to PAATH, the Talons Dance Team, and Makona, where I had the honor of being a Sweetheart. Additionally, I worked as a Student Ambassador in the Admissions department and interned with the McMurry Men’s Basketball team under the guidance of Coach Pickelman and Coach Scott. These experiences were instrumental in my professional development, helping me build valuable skills and connections that have continued to benefit me post-graduation.
One of my most cherished memories at McMurry was being crowned Miss McMurry during the Centennial Homecoming Celebration. It was an unexpected but deeply meaningful honor. Hearing my friends and family cheer me on as I walked across the stage is a moment I will always treasure. That experience reaffirmed the impact I had made in the lives of those around me and the strong sense of community that defines McMurry.
After graduating, my love for McMurry led me to accept a position as the Assistant Director of Campus Events, a role that allowed me to contribute to the university in a meaningful way. When the opportunity arose to transition into my current role as Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, I knew it was the perfect next step. I have always loved learning and embracing new challenges, and this role allows me to do just that while fostering stronger relationships between students and alumni. I am particularly excited about creating meaningful networking opportunities and planning engaging events that bring our McMurry family even closer together.
Looking back, I realize how much McMurry prepared me for this opportunity. The leadership roles I held and the connections I made with alumni played a pivotal role in shaping my post-grad journey. That’s why I am so passionate about strengthening the bond between students and alumni—because you never know how those connections might shape your future.
If I could give my college self one piece of advice, it would be to slow down and truly enjoy the experience. Life unfolds at its own pace, and trusting in that process is essential. My faith has guided me every step of the way, and I believe that when you put your trust in God, He will lead you exactly where you are meant to be.
I look forward to meeting and reconnecting with so many of you, whether you are a recent graduate or a longtime member of the McMurry alumni community. Together, we can continue building a strong, engaged network that supports and uplifts each other.
