The McMurry Science and Mathematics Advisory Board (SMAB) is a dedicated group of science and math alumni and supporters who play an essential role in strengthening the university’s programs. This board advises the departments, sponsors educational initiatives, and helps secure resources that benefit students, faculty, and the McMurry community.
What the SMAB Does:
- Offers strategic guidance to the science and mathematics departments to improve the quality of education and enhance academic programs
- Promotes McMurry and assists in recruiting prospective students who are passionate about science and mathematics
- Provides research stipends to students and funds projects that advance learning and innovation
- Brings fresh perspectives and ideas from scientists, mathematicians, and community leaders to the administration and faculty
- Coordinate recognition of distinguished alumni who have achieved outstanding success and leadership in their fields
- Supports fundraising and revenue generation for priority projects and departmental needs

SMAB Governance
Bylaws
The Science and Math Advisory Board (SMAB) at McMurry University advises on STEM education, fosters innovation, engages supporters and alums, promotes recognition, and raises funds to enhance programs.
Funding Guidelines
The SMAB manages donated funds according to donor intent, bylaws, and law. The board approves spending through votes, executive committee decisions, or the chairman’s authorization up to $500.
Wall of Honor Guidelines
The Wall of Honor recognizes individuals distinguished in the sciences and contributions to McMurry University, awarding commemorative plaques displayed in the Science Building and presented to recipients or their families.
Clark W. Beasley Endowed Fund Information
Guidelines
The Clark W. Beasley Endowed Fund supports summer biology research stipends for McMurry students, honoring “Doc Beasley’s” distinguished biology research legacy.
