McMurry University is preparing to welcome hundreds of alumni back to campus for its homecoming celebration from Oct. 31 – Nov. 3. The McMurry community can look forward to a weekend of excitement and fellowship during the first homecoming of the institution’s second century.
“We have so much to celebrate this year,” University President Dr. Sandra S. Harper said. “Our record enrollment, including one of the largest freshman classes we’ve seen in more than a decade, means we’re expecting a full campus all weekend. It’s an honor for me to welcome our alumni back for the final time as president of McMurry.”

McMurry is excited to invite the community to several events throughout the weekend beginning with the Music Showcase with Chanters and the McMurry Band on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. in the Ryan Recital Hall. From 5 to 7 p.m., join us for the Friday Festival in the newly renovated Backyard space west of the Dining Hall. Local vendors and campus organizations will be there with food, games, music, and fun.
Following Homecoming Coronation in Radford Auditorium, McMurry will light the bonfire at 8:30 p.m. in Wah Wahtaysee Park and enjoy a returning tradition from the centennial homecoming, a fireworks show. Directly following the fireworks, the Lawn Jam Concert featuring The Party Kings will go until 11 p.m.
On Saturday, the Maroon-out Tailgate begins at 11 a.m. in the Backyard followed by the football game versus Austin College at 1 p.m. in Wilford Moore Stadium. Tickets are available at https://mcmurrysports.com/sports/2024/9/3/football-gameday-tickets.aspx.
The McMurry Theatre Department is also thrilled to present Little Shop of Horrors, a horror comedy rock musical that follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on humans. The show will run Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Ryan Little Theatre and on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at https://cur8.com/18572/project/124635.
