The McMurry Science and Mathematics Advisory Board (SMAB) brings together alums, professionals, and supporters who are committed to strengthening science and mathematics education at McMurry University.

What SMAB Does:

Provides strategic guidance to strengthen science and mathematics programs
Promotes McMurry and supports the recruitment of students interested in science and mathematics
Provides student research stipends and funds projects that advance learning and innovation
Connects faculty and administrators with perspectives from scientists, mathematicians, alums, and community leaders
Coordinates recognition of distinguished alums who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership
Supports fundraising for priority projects and departmental needs

Through advocacy, expertise, and financial support, SMAB helps create meaningful opportunities for students and strengthens McMurry’s science and mathematics programs for future generations.

The Science and Mathematics Advisory Board (SMAB) at McMurry University advises on STEM education, fosters innovation, engages supporters and alumni, promotes recognition, and raises funds to enhance programs.

The SMAB manages donated funds in accordance with donor intent, bylaws, and applicable law. The board approves spending by vote, executive committee decision, or the chairman’s authorization up to $500.

The Wall of Honor recognizes individuals distinguished in the sciences and contributions to McMurry University, awarding commemorative plaques displayed in the Science Building and presented to recipients or their families.

Charles and Lisa Bloomer Research Stipend

The SMAB awards the Charles and Lisa Bloomer Research Stipend annually to support student projects in the natural and computational sciences, recognizing academic achievement and encouraging applied learning.
