Serve independently or organize a service project in your community. Use the McMurry Serves form to share your participation or submit a project for consideration.
Planning a McMurry Serves Project
Interested in leading a project? Use these guidelines to plan an effective service opportunity. McMurry University reviews projects before they are approved.
1. Meet the Criteria
- Address a community-identified need.
- Schedule the project in November or April.
- Provide approximately 2–5 hours of service.
- Accommodate at least 10 volunteers.
2. Coordinate the Project
- Contact a community agency or organization.
- Determine the date, time, location, and volunteer needs.
- Serve as the liaison between volunteers and the community partner.
3. Recruit Volunteers
- Invite alums, students, families, and community members.
- Recruit enough volunteers to meet the project goal.
- Consider recruiting approximately 20% more volunteers to account for cancellations.
4. Communicate & Lead
- Confirm participation and provide event details.
- Distribute and collect required forms.
- Arrive before participants and serve as the primary contact.
- Document participation and take photos of the project.
Submit Your Project Early
Register your McMurry Serves project at least two weeks before the event date to allow time for review, approval, and coordination.
