McMurry University is thrilled to introduce Frances Arias ’07 as the newest addition to the Division of Institutional Advancement team. Taking on the role of Director of Major and Planned Giving, Arias brings with her a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering philanthropic connections.
In her new role, Arias will leverage her expertise to cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, uncover their philanthropic passions, and collaboratively connect those passions with campus initiatives. Witnessing the transformative impact of donors’ generosity on students drives her commitment to securing resources that empower McMurry to nurture the next generation of leaders and changemakers.
While a student at McMurry, Arias majored in political science and minored in Spanish to connect with her heritage and understand the cultural nuances shaping the world. She is now able to authentically engage with our growing Hispanic alumni community, beyond language fluency.
Arias earned two master’s degrees in defense and national security with aspirations to serve in the military and pursue a career in national security. Despite unforeseen circumstances that prevented her from realizing these ambitions, she was ultimately guided to impactful roles in research and philanthropy.
Arias began her career as a field researcher for Texas Tech’s Institute for Rural and Community Health. She moved to Washington, DC, and worked for seven years at The George Washington University Law School, returning to Texas in 2015 to work for the Green Beret Foundation, where she most recently served as chief operating officer, spearheading resource development and fundraising efforts while improving internal operations.
Now, Arias’ journey comes full circle as she returns to McMurry, ready to make a difference in a new capacity.
“This is more than just a career move, it’s a homecoming,” Arias said.
