You may have watched Tabitha Wilson play parts in Homecoming musicals and plays, or you might have seen her media work on the McMurry Theatre social pages. She recently landed her newest role as McMurry’s assistant director for alumni engagement, so you’re going to see and hear a lot more from her!
Tabitha graduated from McMurry on May 13. A theatre arts major, she gained many skills while part of the theatre department—most notably her musical and marketing abilities. Tabitha managed McMurry’s Theatre social media platforms, developing content for a myriad of productions and events during the 2022-2023 school year. She has a well-honed knack for creating and curating original, relatable content that engages and excites a wide audience of various ages, and she’s begun to apply her talents to the alumni social channels.
“Majoring in Theatre provided me with a nurturing and safe environment to learn from my failures, find creative ways to solve problems, and collaborate with a wide variety of people,” she said. “I’ve met some of the most amazing and talented people through McMurry’s theatre department, and I’m starting out as a young professional with a great social network and a diverse skill set that will help me be successful.”
Now that she is part of the alumni engagement team, one of her main goals is to provide opportunities for students and alumni to connect, in person and through social media.
“Making sure that alumni are engaged with current students is the biggest goal of mine,” she said. “We have over 11,000 living alumni. Students would greatly benefit from meeting and learning from alumni who are established in their careers.” Tabitha will work hard to ensure students make connections within our vast alumni family by the time they graduate.
