The Texas Education Agency is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The Texas Education Agency improves outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.

NC-SARA Professional Licensure Disclosure
The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is a national initiative to provide more access to online courses while maintaining compliance standards with state regulatory agencies. SARA allows institutions to provide online courses outside of their own state borders by seeking and maintaining state approvals via a streamlined process. Licensure or Certification of Professional Programs
Disclosure
As of November 1, 2019, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education posted their final regulations to be effective as of July 1, 2020 regarding institutional expectations for programs that lead to licensure or certification. The U.S. Department of Education made additions and revisions to Section § 668.43 Institutional Information. Universities are now required to disclose whether completion of an educational programs that leads to a professional license or certification would be sufficient to meet licensure requirements in a State for that same occupation including: A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification; A list of all States for which the institution has determined that its curriculum does not meet the State educational requirements for licensure or certification; and A list of all States for which the institution has not made a determination that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification.

Every state has its own criteria regarding licensure of various professions. The curricula for professional programs at McMurry University were developed to meet the accreditation and licensure/certification requirements set forth by the state of Texas, as well as, prepare students to apply for licensure/certification exams required by the state of Texas.

McMurry University is unable to determine certification eligibility and program completion requirements outside the State of Texas. There is not an official centralized listing of all states’ requirements for the four programs listed above. If you are a current or prospective student interested in pursuing licensure or certification in another state we recommend you review the following links for your discipline to determine if the McMurry program meets that state’s licensure or certification requirements.
