GaBrielle “Gabby” Mallet is a higher education professional who has worked for Texas State Technical College (TSTC) for over thirteen years where she has collaborated with faculty to create a dynamic learning environment in support of students. During her time at TSTC, she held the role as Assistant Department Chair Statewide for the First Year Seminar program where she played an integral role in the redesign of the course across all 10 TSTC campuses. She also held a faculty position as Associate Professor for Developmental Math. Her innovative teaching practices and leadership helped her to receive the W. R. Potter Mark of Teaching Excellence Faculty Award in 2017. Upon her return to TSTC in August 2022, she now is the Associate Provost for the Sweetwater campus where she has direct leadership over the entire campus.
As a McMurry Alum, Gabby holds a degree in Biochemistry where she was recognized as the Outstanding Senior for the Chemistry/Biochemistry Department. She was very active during her time at McMurry, serving as President of the McMurry Chapter of the American Chemical Society, a member of the Gamma Sigma social club, and participating in a number of activities including band, cheerleading, and as a student worker for Chemistry/Biochemistry department. Gabby also received the Outstanding Young Alumni Achievement Award in 2019. In May 2012 she graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Masters of Education in Higher Education. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University and is working on her dissertation. While at Azusa Pacific, she was awarded the Carolyn Juillerat Memorial Scholarship, given to a doctoral student whose leadership talents contribute to collaborative teamwork. Her research interests and dissertation will focus on the academic satisfaction of students with disabilities in higher education. As a native Abilenian, Gabby is very active in her community. She attends Minda Street Church of Christ where she serves as a bible class teacher, works with the media ministry, and is a key part of the College Ministry alongside her husband Eric Mallet, who is one of the Associate Ministers. She served on two boards: National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (2015-2022) and Reach for a Difference (2016-2019), an organization that supports individual, family, and community actions to address needs and issues of individuals on the autism spectrum. She has received two community awards. She was recognized as one of Abilene’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2017 and received the Woman of Promise and Courage Jewell Davis Scarborough Scholarship from the Abilene Branch of the American Association of University Women in 2018. Gabby has been married to her husband Eric for 14 years and they have two active boys, Micah (15) and Mason (14). In her spare time, she can be seen shopping, traveling, supporting Micah (her future actor) in many musicals in the community, or traveling and watching Mason bowl with his bowling team.
