Martha Howell, EdD, currently serves as a Healthcare Leadership & Organizational Development Consultant and teaches at Mass General Institute’s Department of Health Professions Education. Formerly, she established the Relationship Centered Communication program (RCC), RCC Leadership Training and Coaching the Coach programs at Baylor Scott & White Health.
Her educational background includes a BA in Psychology and MEd in Counseling and Human Development. Doctoral studies include Higher Education Administration and a doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in medical education.
She has been a healthcare educator for 20+ years and has a background in simulation/standardized patient instruction, faculty development, quality, safety, experience improvement and communication skill training. She also serves as a faculty member with the Academy of Communication in Healthcare and the Institute for Healthcare Communication.
She adheres to a design thinking approach that engages the human perspective in all aspects of systems-building, organizational development and improvement. Recently, she completed the certification in Foresight and is passionate about sharing practical application of foresight methodology. Whereas history is concerned with origins, roots, and where we have been, foresight monitors the global environment for signs of change, develops plausible scenarios and prepares options to support organizational goals.
