Get a Head Start on Your College Career
McMurry University provides Lift Off, an exciting summer opportunity to prepare incoming students for academic success.
Lift Off is a three-and-a-half-week residential summer bridge program for all majors, especially those in STEM. Participants can earn up to six credit hours in one of two tracks:
- Track I: Project-based Pre-Calculus and First-Year Seminar courses
- Track II: Intermediate Algebra and Introduction to Sociology courses
Courses and projects are paired with peer-assisted learning and mentoring.

Transitioning to College
The Lift Off program provides:
- A Head Start – Begin taking college courses on campus in July before the fall semester begins –
complete two courses for a total of six credit hours. - Active Support – Interact and learn with an academic coach, peer-leaders, and faculty who are
focused on your success. - Engagement – The Lift Off community will give you a chance to make new friends while you
participate in an experience that integrates both academic and social activities. - Summer Financial Aid – Assistance may be available to families who qualify for federal or state
aid. Participants should plan on completing the FAFSA or TAFSA to explore eligibility.
Costs
The Lift Off experience costs $1,500, which includes your meal plan, activities, learning materials, housing, and tuition. We recommend that you apply for summer financial aid, as Pell-eligible students may receive aid to cover some costs.

Applying to the Lift Off program is easy. You will have an academic coach who guides you through the process and answers your questions. The Lift Off program application will open January 6 and the deadline to apply is June 6.
