PHSSN’s state approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program prepares students to assist patients and nurses with daily living needs.
CNA students who successfully complete the required hours and course objectives will be eligible to submit their application to take their state certification exam.
CNA Admission Requirements
Entry Requirements
Requirements for entry into the CNA program include the following:
- Negative TB Screening within the past 12 months
- Current immunization record as required for Texas Healthcare
- Refer to Immunization Requirements
- Read and comprehend on an 8th grade level or higher
- Basic math skills
- Food Handler’s Certificate
- Negative drug screen and criminal background check with fingerprints
- Must be able to lift, sit, squat, bend, reach and stand for long periods of time without medical issues
The cost of the course is $950.00.
Tuition includes:
- Classroom skills Validation
- 40 hours of Clinical Instruction
- Clinical Supplies
- Required Clinical Attire
Immunization Requirements
Certain immunizations are required for the CNA students which can be downloaded here: Required Immunizations for CNA Class
All immunizations, including a negative TB test, must be presented prior to clinical training. Students will not be permitted to attend clinical training without proper documentation of the required immunizations.
The program consists of a 60-hour online course with classroom skills validation and 40-hour clinical.
- Evening Class
The evening class schedule is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with a duration of 7-8 weeks.
