What Sets Us Apart

Our English language arts and reading grades 7-12 curriculum provides you with the preparation necessary to meet the needs of diverse students in this age range. You’ll gain your competencies as a future educator in small classes, where you’ll make lasting relationships with your peers and faculty members. When you’re ready, you’ll gain hands-on experience during a clinical teaching placement. This practical classroom experience will challenge you to apply what you’ve learned, cultivate your skills and confidence as an educator, and prepare you for certification.

What You Can Earn

Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts and Reading Grades 7-12

You’ll complete at least 120 credit hours, not including developmental courses. At least 39 hours will be at an advanced level. This degree requires a minor in curriculum and instruction.

A MINOR IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION IS REQUIRED FOR THE BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS & READING GRADES 7-12

Careers

With a McMurry Bachelor of Arts in English language arts and reading grades 7-12, you’ll be well positioned to succeed as an English teacher in the middle and high school setting. Our comprehensive curriculum will also prepare you for a variety of other positions in education, including consulting, program management and educational leadership.
