You’ll learn wide-ranging skills by studying diverse subjects such as biblical studies, history and philosophy. The pre-ministry program advisor is Dr. John Miller.

What Sets Us Apart

McMurry’s pre-ministry program requires no specific major or minor. You are encouraged to major or minor in religion or Christian ministry, but you can select classes from any liberal arts topic that emphasizes critical thinking, writing and oral communication. You will also be encouraged to complete an internship in a local church or service organization.

What You Can Earn

Bachelor of Arts in Religion

You’ll complete at least 120 credit hours, not including developmental courses. At least 39 hours will be at an advanced level. You’ll also declare a minor in a discipline of your choice and two years of a college-level foreign language.

Minor in Religion

You’ll complete 18 credit hours, including six hours at an advanced level. (Not available to religion majors.)

 

Christian Ministry (Minor)

The minor in Christian ministry requires 18 hours of religious studies, including six at the advanced level. (Not available to Christian ministry majors.)

 

 

Careers

Pre-ministry students frequently pursue careers in church ministry, but the servant leadership skills developed in this program will help students succeed in any career they choose.
