The Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act is a federal law enacted on October 28, 2000. It provides for the tracking of convicted, registered sex offenders who are enrolled as students, employed, or volunteering at institutions of higher education.

The Act amends the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to clarify that colleges and universities are permitted to disclose information provided to them regarding registered sex offenders. It also directs the U.S. Secretary of Education to ensure institutions are notified that such disclosure is allowed.

Information about registered sex offenders may be found on the Texas Department of Public Safety website.

McMurry University publishes its most recent on-campus crime statistics in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), as required by the U.S. Department of Education.
