What are Discovery Trips?
Discovery Trips offer McMurry University students hands-on exposure to careers by visiting organizations, exploring industries, and engaging directly with professionals.
Hosted by the Career & Experiential Learning Center, these local and non-local trips are free for all McMurry students.
Students will:

Build connections for internships and future employment
Discovery Trips are open to all students and are especially encouraged for sophomores seeking clarity about early career paths.

Past Career Adventures
We toured NASA and spoke with personnel about career opportunities not only for rocket scientists, but also in accounting, management, and healthcare fields connected to NASA.
Blasting off! Students explored a massive rocket during the NASA trip in Houston.
We attended the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners meeting and met with internal auditors to discuss careers in fraud investigation.
Discovery Trip: “Deep in the Art of Texas” — San Antonio/Austin. Twenty-two students majoring in Art, Graphic Design, Music, and Psychology participated in the trip, which included meeting with three artists to discuss careers in art, touring several museums and galleries, and enjoying cultural activities such as the San Antonio River Walk.

Discovery Trip: Circles Conference – Grapevine, TX
Three days of creativity, design, and inspiration! Students connected with top designers, explored AI’s role in design, and gained insights to shape their future careers.
Fraud, money, and fun in Fort Worth! Students toured the U.S. Mint, met with the DFW Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners, and snapped a photo outside this iconic site.
