Academic Support at The Hub

The Hub provides collaborative academic support designed to help McMurry students strengthen their understanding of course material, build confidence, and develop effective learning strategies.

Peer-to-peer tutoring is available primarily for STEM and Business courses through one-on-one and group support. The Hub also hosts select faculty tutoring sessions and professional tutoring for upper-level math, physics, and select kinesiology courses.

Peer Tutoring

Work one-on-one or in groups with student tutors who have demonstrated a strong understanding of course content.

Faculty Tutoring

Participating faculty members may hold scheduled tutoring sessions in The Hub during the semester.

Professional Tutoring

Professional tutoring is available for upper-level math, physics, and select kinesiology courses.

How Tutoring Works

The Hub is designed to make academic support easy to access throughout the semester.

Walk In for Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring does not require an appointment. Stop by The Hub for available one-on-one or group support.

Appointments Recommended

Walk-ins are welcome for professional tutoring, but appointments are strongly recommended to help secure a spot.

Check the Current Schedule

Tutoring availability varies by course and semester. Use the current schedules below to find tutors and available times.

When You Arrive

Getting help in The Hub is simple.

Look for a Tutor

Tutors working in The Hub can be identified by the nameplate on their table.

Raise the Flag

Raise the flag at your table to signal that you would like assistance from a tutor.

Visit the Front Desk

If you do not see an available tutor, visit the front desk and staff will help connect you with the tutor on duty.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides peer-led academic support for historically challenging courses through active learning, collaboration, and engagement with course material.

Peer-Led Support

SI leaders are students who previously excelled in the course and attend the current semester’s class alongside participating students.

Active Learning

Sessions help students engage more deeply with course material through discussion, collaboration, problem-solving, and practice.

SI Office Hours

SI leaders also hold office hours in The Hub, which may function as small-group support or more traditional tutoring depending on student needs.
