What Are Discovery Trips?
EDGE Discovery Trips give McMurry students hands-on opportunities to explore careers and graduate pathways by visiting organizations, learning about industries, and engaging directly with professionals.
These local and regional experiences are designed to help students connect academic interests with real-world career possibilities while building professional awareness and networks.
Students may:
- Tour professional workplaces and organizations
- Explore industries, career paths, and graduate opportunities
- Learn directly from professionals about their experiences and career journeys
- Ask questions about internships, employment, and professional preparation
- Build connections that may support future career opportunities
Discovery Trips are open to McMurry students at any stage of their academic journey and can be especially helpful for those still exploring possible career paths.

Past Discovery Trips
Students toured NASA and spoke with professionals about career opportunities across a range of fields, including science, accounting, management, and healthcare.
Blasting off! Students explored a massive rocket during the NASA trip in Houston.
We attended the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners meeting and met with internal auditors to discuss careers in fraud investigation.
Discovery Trip: “Deep in the Art of Texas” — San Antonio/Austin. Twenty-two students majoring in Art, Graphic Design, Music, and Psychology participated in the trip, which included meeting with three artists to discuss careers in art, touring several museums and galleries, and enjoying cultural activities such as the San Antonio River Walk.

Discovery Trip: Circles Conference – Grapevine, Texas. Students explored creativity, design, emerging technology, and the role of AI while connecting with industry professionals and gaining insights into future career opportunities.
Students visited the U.S. Mint in Fort Worth and met with members of the DFW Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners to learn more about careers in accounting, auditing, and fraud investigation.
