Student Grievance Process
McMurry University is committed to providing students with a fair and consistent process for raising concerns and seeking resolution.
Before You Submit
Complete the Student Grievance Form and include any documentation that may help explain your concern. Supporting materials may include notices, policies, procedures, emails, text messages, or other relevant correspondence.
The Student Affairs Office maintains written grievances, responses, and resolutions. After a final decision is reached, a summary of the grievance and its resolution is submitted to the Dean of Students in accordance with SACSCOC requirements.
Choose the Appropriate Process
Different concerns may require different reporting or review procedures.
Non-Academic Concern
Use the Student Grievance Form for a concern involving a university office, service, employee, decision, or other non-academic matter.
Grade Appeal
Concerns involving a final course grade follow the formal Grade Appeals process in the University Catalog.
Title IX or Hazing
Sexual misconduct, discrimination, and hazing concerns have dedicated reporting procedures and should be submitted through the appropriate process.
Non-Academic Grievance Procedure
Follow these steps when submitting and appealing a non-academic grievance.
Supervisor Review
The supervisor of the individual or department involved will investigate the concern and attempt to resolve it. A written response will be provided within 10 working days of receiving the grievance.
Appeal Request
To appeal the supervisor’s decision, the student must submit a written request to the appropriate Vice President or Dean responsible for the individual or department.
Final Decision
The Vice President or Dean will review the appeal and issue a written decision within 10 working days of receiving it. This decision is final.
