Mission
McMurry University started its own security department in November of 1992 to “Protect the assets of McMurry University.” We define assets as “People, Property, Information, and Time.” Our students are our biggest asset. This means we will do our best to protect them and their property, as well as the property of the University. We are not Peace Officers. We are Non-Commissioned Security Officers, and follow all laws of the State of Texas that pertain.

McM Alert enables the University to send urgent news to students/parents/staff via their cell phones. When you sign up for the service, the University can text you with timely information about emergencies, weather warnings, or class cancellations.

Silent Witness
If you see or have seen a violation of the student code of conduct or a crime committed on campus that you would like to report anonymously you may fill out the Silent Witness form and all information will be kept in the strictest of confidence!

Registration of Sex Offenders
The “Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act” is a federal law enacted on October 28, 2000 that provides for the tracking of convicted, registered sex offenders enrolled as students at institutions of higher education, or working or volunteering on campus.
This act amends the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 to clarify that nothing in that Act may be construed to prohibit an educational institution from disclosing information provided to the institution concerning registered sex offenders and requires the Secretary of Education to take appropriate steps to notify educational institutions that disclosure of this information is permitted.
