Work Study
Work study requires federal College Work Study funding from Financial Aid. Please contact your financial aid advisor at 325-793-4713 to learn your eligibility and how to accept your award.
Students compete for work study positions via online application and are interviewed and selected by department supervisors. The standard award is 10 hours per week for each 16-week fall and spring semester. We cannot guarantee you a work study position.
Summer work study requires enrollment in summer courses.
Requirements
Submit all required financial aid documents by August 1, even if you have not been awarded aid. Contact your Financial Aid advisor to confirm that all requirements are complete and to verify your eligibility.
New, 1st-time student employees must have a social security number, and present acceptable original forms of ID and bank direct deposit information to complete Federal payroll W4/I-9 and direct deposit forms. Please review ID requirements at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) webpage. Copies cannot be accepted.
Student Employment
All students must meet the Office of Financial Aid requirements, regardless of award status or job type.
McMurry University complies with all applicable federal and state nondiscrimination laws. It does not engage in prohibited discrimination based on race, color, nationality or ethnic origin, sex, age, or disability in employment or the provision of services.
Skills-specific hires
Students recruited for skill-specific positions (e.g., Chemistry majors with lab experience) who are not awarded federal funds may qualify for the McMurry Work Program (MWP) funds, if requested by a hiring department. The Office of Financial Aid must verify the award before placement. These positions are not posted publicly; departments directly request the qualified students they wish to hire.
When to Begin the Work Study Job Search
If you are awarded work-study funds, Financial Aid will confirm your award with the Work Study Coordinator. Once you are registered for classes, you may view and apply for available positions.
Monitor your McM student email during the first full week of August for detailed ‘Work Study Instructions’ for the current year. Select ‘Student’ from the McMurry Employment Portal to view job postings.
Non-Work Study
McMurry offers only one non-work-study, part-time student position on campus: Junior Admissions Counselor, available through PeopleAdmin.
Current or graduating students and alums are invited to visit the McMurry Career & Experiential Learning Center to learn where to view and apply for good part-time, entry-level, or professional opportunities through the Handshake Career and employment management platform.
