About
TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education that promotes academic success among McMurry University students. The program actively increases retention, academic achievement, and graduation rates for first-generation undergraduate students, students who meet TRIO income guidelines, and/or students with disabilities registered with Student Accessibility and Accommodations. TRIO SSS provides comprehensive support to help students navigate their college journey and reach their full potential.
TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Objectives
The TRIO Student Support Services program at McMurry University is committed to achieving the following federally established performance benchmarks to promote student success:

Retention and Persistence
At least 70% of all participants served by the SSS program will either persist from one academic year to the next, graduate, or transfer from a two-year to a four-year institution within the academic year. -
Academic Standing
A minimum of 83% of enrolled participants will maintain good academic standing as defined by McMurry University’s educational policies. -
Graduation Rate
At least 40% of new participants each year will complete their program and graduate within six years of initial enrollment.
McM TRIO Student Support Services has been 100% federally funded by the United States Department of Education to serve 140 participants annually.
Eligibility and Services
Who Is Eligible for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS)?
You may qualify for TRIO-SSS at McMurry University if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

First-Generation College Student
Neither your parents nor legal guardians have earned a four-year (bachelor’s) college degree. -
Federal Income Eligibility
You can receive a Federal Pell Grant and meet the income guidelines that the U.S. Department of Education established. -
Documented Disability
You have a documented physical, psychological, or learning disability registered with McMurry’s Disability Services Office.
Services Offered by TRIO Student Support Services
TRIO SSS at McMurry University provides a comprehensive suite of support services designed to promote student academic and personal success. These services include:

Personalized Academic Coaching
One-on-one guidance to develop effective study habits, time management strategies, and academic planning. -
Financial Aid Advising
Provided expert support in navigating the financial aid process, including completing the FAFSA. -
Tutoring Services
Targeted academic support in various subject areas to reinforce classroom learning. -
Workshops on Financial Literacy & Academic Success
Interactive sessions focused on budgeting, student loan management, and skills for thriving in college. -
Graduate & Professional School Preparation
Guidance on selecting programs, completing applications, and preparing for entrance exams. -
Graduate School Visits
Organized trips to graduate and professional schools to help students explore post-baccalaureate opportunities. -
Support for Students with Disabilities
Individualized services in coordination with McMurry Disability Services to ensure equitable access and success. -
Social and Cultural Enrichment Events
Activities designed to enhance personal development and cultural awareness. -
One-on-One Success Coaching
Regular meetings with a dedicated academic success coach to set goals, track progress, and stay motivated.
