Through the generosity of the National Science Foundation (NSF), McMurry University received funds to support students with financial need who wish to study in natural science disciplines. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics.
Qualified students may earn an NSF S-STEM merit scholarship covering their full tuition per academic year (renewable up to four years).

Participation
Scholarship recipients are also invited to participate in programming designed to support their success while preparing them to become future leaders in the sciences. All McMurry STEM Scholars will take part in a freshmen seminar (along with their peer mentors) and have access to specialized academic and career advising, faculty and alumni mentoring, and academic support. Each semester we will have opportunities for experiential learning, service projects and community building opportunities. McMurry STEM Scholars are also provided with funding to support participation in undergraduate research and attending professional workshops, conferences, and competitions.

Who is Eligible?
To be eligible you must be a US citizen, be Pell eligible, have a high school GPA of at least a 3.0 and be a first year student seeking a degree in a non-clinical track for Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics.
Application Process
- Determine eligibility. (see Who is Eligible? above)
- Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must submit a supplemental essay and letter of recommendation from a Science teacher by February 1, 2024 to be considered.
- Students must be planning to major in at least one of the following fields: biochemistry, biology, chemistry, computational mathematics, computer science, mathematics, engineering physics, or physics.
