What to Expect at SOAR
At SOAR, you will take the first steps toward becoming part of the McMurry community. During the event, you will:

Receive a warm welcome to campus

Begin building connections with new and returning students

Learn about McMurry’s spirit, history, and traditions

Explore academic majors and speak with faculty members

Meet with an academic advisor to create your fall course schedule

Review your financial aid with the Financial Aid staff

Discover opportunities to get involved in campus life and student activities
-
Learn about student support programs and campus resources
Registration Eligibility
Students must be admitted to McMurry University and have submitted an enrollment deposit to register for SOAR.
Transfer Students
Transfer students are welcome to attend SOAR. However, they will schedule a separate, individual appointment with an Academic Advisor to register for classes.
Registration opens April 1, 2026.
2026 SOAR sessions will be held on:
- Monday, June 15, 2026
- Monday, June 29, 2026
- Friday, July 17, 2026
- Friday, August 7, 2026
Students should plan to attend one SOAR session. Additional details and registration information will be provided before each session.

8:30 a.m. – Check-In Begins
9:00 a.m. – Welcome to McMurry
9:15 a.m. – First-Year Experience Overview
10:00 a.m. – Academic Major Breakout Sessions
10:30 a.m. – Session Rotations Begin (Rotations will include Academic Advising, Financial Aid & Student Billing, McMurry 101, and other helpful sessions.)
12:30 p.m. – Lunch
1:30 p.m. – Student Organization Fair
2:30 p.m. – Session Rotations Resume
5:30 p.m. – Picnic and Send-Off
