What is Experiential Learning?

Experiential Learning is an engaged learning process where students “learn by doing” and reflect on the experience.

  • Discovery Trips
  • Internship or Job opportunities
  • Clinicals, shadowing, observations
  • Undergraduate research
  • Community service, volunteering
  • Study abroad, missions trips, servant leadership projects

Discovery Trips

Discovery Trips provide McMurry University students with a unique opportunity to explore career possibilities by visiting organizations, learning about various industries, and engaging directly with professionals.

Hosted by the Career & Experiential Learning Center, these trips are offered free of charge to McMurry students—whether local or non-local.

What You’ll Gain

On a Discovery Trip, students will have the chance to:

  • Tour facilities and see workplaces in action.

  • Learn about industry experiences and career paths.

  • Participate in Q&A sessions with professionals.

  • Explore internships, job opportunities, and networking connections with the organizations we visit.

Who Can Participate

All McMurry students are welcome to join at any time. However, these trips are especially valuable during the sophomore year, helping students clarify career interests and explore pathways before their upper-level coursework and graduation planning.
