Mindset for Success Office

The Mindset for Success Office (MSO) empowers students to take ownership of their academic journey and personal development. Established initially through McMurry University’s Quality Enhancement Plan, the MSO has grown to coordinate several key initiatives that promote student achievement and retention.

Central to its mission is the Student Success Coaching Program, which assigns every student an Academic Success Coach who provides proactive, personalized support—academically and holistically.

Professional Leadership Program (PLP) – Nominations Now Open

The Sarah Weddington Estate gift has funded several essential student initiatives at McMurry University, including the Professional Leadership Program (PLP). We are now accepting nominations for the third PLP cohort.

PLP is designed for first, second, and third-year students who demonstrate leadership potential and an interest in developing their leadership skills for roles on campus and beyond.

The program begins at the end of February with a Future Leaders Intensive (FLI) featuring a leadership simulation experience. During the FLI, students will explore their leadership interests, reflect on personal values, and build community with peers. Students who complete the FLI will be invited to continue in the PLP, which includes ongoing leadership development through regularly scheduled workshops, applied leadership opportunities in campus life, and travel support for experiential learning. Participants may also earn basic and advanced leadership certifications at their own pace.

Nomination Process

  1. Faculty, staff, and coaches should meet with the student to confirm their interest.

  2. If the student is interested, submit the Nomination Form by February 13, 2026.

  3. Jeff Scott will follow up with nominated students regarding admission details and event scheduling.

Thank you to those who have already submitted nominations—we welcome additional names as we build this cohort.
