Public Health and Wellness

Our department structure, curriculum and program features are designed to elevate and optimize your journey of learning in the field of human health science:

• Small class sizes. At McMurry, freshman and sophomore classes generally have fewer than 40 students, and junior and senior classes have fewer than 20. You will know your professors and by name, and we will know and support your educational and career aspirations.
• Bright and engaged faculty.  Our faculty are selected for their commitment to teaching and student success, their accomplishment and passion in the field, and for their fit with the department and our students.
• Professor-taught courses. Unlike many large institutions, McMurry’s Human Health Science courses and labs are taught by professors rather than graduate students. This ensures consistent, high-quality instruction and strengthens the student-faculty relationships for a win-win all around.
• On-going program enhancement.  We listen to our students to determine “what works” and engage with alumni, professional organizations and other expert associates to determine “what’s needed.” The result is preparation for human health careers based on relevant knowledge, useful skills, supportive relationships, and an expectation – and track record – of successful alumni.
